Blair began doing theatre in the 3rd grade, when she participated in her first show in Forrest Lake, MN. Her family moved to Chatfield when she was in the 4th grade, and throughout the years, she continued to be involved with plays at school and at church. She even attended a musical theatre summer camp at the Children’s Theatre Company in St. Paul.As she got older, getting involved in shows got a little harder as other extra-curricular activities began to interfere, but recently she’s participated in Legally Blonde and Cinderella at Wits' End Theatre in Chatfield, and was involved with her high school’s Fall Theatre Showcase.
Blair has also recently been accepted into the American Music and Dramatic Arts College’s summer high school conservatory program, and she is very much looking forward to the opportunity this coming summer, where she will get to spend two weeks living in New York and attending classes on campus.
Blair was looking for more opportunities to be involved in theatre outside of Chatfield, did a Google search, and found upcoming auditions for the Otherwise Actors, where she is now a current member. Among theatre people, she says, she has always felt like she found a place where she could belong. She loves that OA is another extension of that. It is the best part of her week, as she sees the other members of OA as part of a family. “I’ve found a bunch of new best friends!”
When asked what her favorite part of theatre/performance is, she said she really feels like herself when acting, even when portraying other characters. In each character, you can find a part of yourself. She has always been a positive and bright person, full of a lot of energy, and in theatre, those traits are put to good use.
Blair is looking forward to further involvement with the Rochester Civic Theatre, continuing to be in the Otherwise Actors, and maybe someday, even auditioning for a show!
