Registration opens soon for our Theater Academy Fall Semester.

The Rochester Civic Theatre's mission is to educate and enrich the lives of youth and adults of Southeastern Minnesota through the art of live theatre. For decades the Civic Theatre has provided area artists and performers a creative outlet and has provided area residents with professional quality theatre. Thousands have sought out the Civic Theatre as a place to learn, nurture their talents and have fun! Rochester Civic Theatre remains committed to serving our community through our outreach programming and by providing a full range of educational opportunities in theatre arts.

  • Our classes have something to offer to everyone from the stage novice to the seasoned veteran. Folks from third grade through adulthood will find an opportunity to "act up" at the Civic Theatre!
  • Our youth programming includes learning opportunities for both drama and musical productions. Our courses not only teach theatrical skills but they also stress important life skills such as discipline, self confidence and teamwork. The two semester Theatre Academy runs from September through May and our Summer Theatre Institute series of theatre camps run from June through August.
  • Are you an adult who has always harbored that inner actor but never found an opportunity to let it out? Or perhaps you are interested in reacquainting yourself with the stage. Either way, we have a class for you. Both drama and musical sessions run in the fall and again in the spring.

Go ahead-get creative and take advantage of our many fun and educational opportunities. Click here for online registration. For more information contact our Education Director or the box office.

Touch and No Easy Answers

The Rochester Civic Theatre houses one of the nation's longest continuously-running programs about sexual abuse awareness and prevention. Developed by the Illusion Theatre of Minneapolis and cosponsored by Victim Services and Rochester Public Schools, each year more than eighty performances are presented to over 10,000 area students, educators, and parents. Adult volunteer actors are trained and provided by the Rochester Civic Theatre, and Victim Services of Olmsted County contributes a moderator for each performance.

Touch addresses issues of personal safety and defines the concept of good and bad touch for elementary students. This group performs Tuesday and Thursday mornings during the school year to 2nd and 5th graders.

No Easy Answers discusses sexual harassment, sexually transmitted diseases, and sexual assault. This group performs Monday mornings during the school year to 8th graders.
