Volunteer Opportunities

Rochester Civic Theatre is supported by more than 300 hundred wonderful volunteers! Here are the volunteer descriptions.

Usher/House Manager

Contact: Box Office

Task: Hand out programs, c heck tickets, guide patrons to seats, assist patrons during a performance, sell concessions

Hours: 2-3 hours

When: Show nights

 

Stage Crew

Contact: Janet Roeder

Task: Set up and move scenery, sweep set, operate follow spot, sound/light board, fly system, strike show (the last day of shows)

Hours: 2-3 hours

When: Show nights

 

Costume Shop Helpers

Contact: Greg Miller

Task: Assist a costume designer to build costumes, add finishing items buttons etc, organize dressing rooms, construct special pieces (hats, purses, etc)

Hours: Variable

When: Variable (Arranged by contact with a costume designer)

 

Hair and Make-up

Contact: Greg Miller

Task: Help actors with quick changes, help actors with make up, help actors with hair, wig styling, make-up designs

Hours: 1-3 Hours

When: Show nights

 

Set Constructions

Contact: Janet Roeder

Task: Help build scenery, paint scenery (both general and artistic,) construct props (crafts work,) props gathering, organize shop

Hours: Variable

When: Variable (Arranged by contact with a technical director)

 

Actor

Contact: Greg Miller

Task: Rehearse and Perform in a play/musical. (All actors will be chosen at open auditions)

Hours: Variable

When: Typically M-F 7-10PM for 4-6 weeks for rehearsals. Then 2-4 weeks of Thurs-Sun shows. (Must be able to participate in all rehearsals and performances.)

Stage Manager

Task: Assist Director and actors with all the process to create shows. (From an audition to a strike.)

Hours: Variable

When: Basically the same schedule as an actor. (Must be able to participate in all rehearsals and performances.)

 

Troupe Performer

Contact: Denise Ruemping

Task: Rehearse and Perform in community-outreach troupes.
