Touch/No Easy Answers Seminar

Working in correlation with Victim Services, RCT provides volunteers for one of the longest continuously-running programs on sexual abuse awareness and prevention. Touch and No Easy Answers are performed to area school children throughout the school year. This seminar is to introduce the community and educators to the program, providing an opportunity to view condensed versions of each show, talk to past volunteers and members of Victim Services, and learn more about how to get more involved.

Rochester Arts Roundtable: Session 1

The first in a series of open discussions on the state of the Arts in Rochester and surrounding areas. Regional Arts leaders will share their perspective views on the current and future position of the World of Arts in our community. If interested in attending, please register by September 5th.

Tennessee Williams "Book" Club

An opportunity to explore the works of playwright Tennessee Williams. This group will read several of Williams' plays and discuss their impact on the world of literature and theatre. A post-play discussion of RCT's production of Williams' Streetcar Named Desire will be included.

Storybook Theatre Workshop

During this three-part workshop, participants will develop theatrical performances from popular children's literature. Presentations will take place between performances of RCT's production of Honk!, a musical interpretation of Hans Christian Anderson's Ugly Duckling.

Holiday Caroling

Christmas caroling has been an age-old holiday tradition for generations. RCT is bringing it back for the 2009 Holiday season. Carolers will bring their holiday spirit to downtown Rochester before heading over to the theatre for some pre-show entertainment and hot chocolate.

Auditioning for Musical Theatre Workshop

Learn the ins and outs of auditioning for a musical. Rehearse a song to sing, and learn a few basic dance steps. Feedback and guidance provided by a professional music director and a professional choreographer. Learn what directors are looking for and how to properly prepare yourself for a musical audition.

Fairy Tales and the Future

A panel discussion of literary experts will debate the significance of fairy tales in the modern world. Do fairy tales hold any relevance today? Are they dying out? Young talent from area speech teams will present their speeches in an evening of vocal oration. Area high school students will perform the same speeches they enter into area competitions.
